fiction

Klara is an AF, Artificial Friend, programmed to be a companion to sick children. Kazuo Ishiguro, 2017 Nobel Prize winner for literature, tells the story entirely from Klara’s perspective. Her innocent and egoless observation of human behavior as well as her place in human relationships leads us to think about how we humans think of love, loneliness, and hope. This book has been praised as well as criticized. With AI an ongoing debate now, I thought it might be interesting for us to get into the topic a bit. (This is not to say I know anything about AI.). . .
